Task 2: Decisive Moment
1. Sketches and Scene Research
There were four decisive moments I had in mind, so I did 4 sketches
to see which I could further develop. After the feedback session
(1/10/2021), I decided to go with Snow White because it has a
more obvious decisive moment among the four narratives.

Decisive moment: When Snow White decides whether to
eat or not eat the Wicked Queen's poisoned apple.
2. Poster References

Fig. 2 Poster references from Google and Pinterest
Before digitalizing my sketch, I went on Google and Pinterest to
look for minimalist poster references. This is the overall look
I'm going for, simple and minimal yet clear and concisely conveys
the message.
3. Digitalization Progress

I attempted to digitalize my sketch from Week 6, the apple is
the central focus of my poster design. I also tried using other
colors for my background, but black looked the best.

The hand looked a bit flat so I added shadows on the palm so the
hand doesn't look one dimensional.
By looking at the snow white reference, I suggested "green smoke" in
the background during feedback session. I tried it out but it looked
odd so I decided to leave it out.
I sculpted Snow White's hand make it the focus of the
GIF. Only Snow White's hand would move in the GIF.

effect on apple, Week 9 (22/10/2021)
I decided to animate the sparkle effect on the apple and also the hands of Snow White.

My original plan was to not include Snow White's hand in the
poster but only the GIF, but Snow White's hand was a great
addition to the poster as it made the poster looks fuller.
4. GIF Animation Progress

I animated two versions. One where the sparkling star goes around
one circle, and the second where the star zooms in and out. The
first one was more sparkly and looked more convincing that the
apple is fresh and not poison.

Week 6
Specific Feedback: Ms. Anis suggested that the decisive moment is more obvious in Snow White as she's deciding
whether to eat the poisoned apple, so work on that. Then I suggested
maybe adding Snow White's hand on top for the animation. Leave the
apple unbitten in the poster and the animation.
Week 7
Specific Feedback: Change title to move name, and include tagline. Change the title placement above. For animation, maybe make movie title and tagline appear. Also add sparkling effect on the apple for animation so it's more alluring. Add shadows to the palms so it wouldn't look as flat. Can try experimenting with the green smoke with gradient.
Loved the project, but the animation tested my patience (lol).
Animating the poster was a challenge because I had to record a video
of my hand to see how the hand moves, watch it back and animate
accordingly so it looked more "realistic". This project taught me
how minimal colors could also compose a strong visual narrative.
