Since my research topic is related to street art, I decided to use
the silhouette of spray
can as a subject on my cover design. The keyword of the concept I
proposed is "positivity",
so the colors that I used are vibrant and bright to show the
positive image of
Malaysian street art has now.

REFLECTION
Experience
When I first looked at the
requirements for Assignment 1, I almost fainted (lol)
because the amount of words we have to write was a bit
overwhelming. However, it wasn't as difficult as I expected
because we could transfer some of the research we did in our
previous Design Research Methodology module into Assignment
1. Designing the cover for the publication was enjoyable as
I got to explore different concepts for my research topic. I
was also relieved there was some designing aspect to this
module because writing a dissertation takes up a lot of my
mental energy just to focus.
Observation
I observed that writing an article
for publication is as hard as it seems. We have to be
concise with the words that are used in the article, and a
slight error can change what the sentence means. I also
observed that paraphrasing is not my strong suit, I tend to
create sentences that reader may often misunderstand.
Findings
I found that concept development at an
early stage is important to will help develop from formless
idea to precise message in an appropriate form with
supportive visuals and content and if I'm off track I could
look back at my concept and refer. As always, I can't thank
Ms Jinchi enough for her support and guidance, I've also
learnt that she is great at what she's doing. I sincerely
hope everyone could meet a lecturer like Ms Jinchi.
